If it's any consolation, we're currently paying £1.30 a litre here in England - which if my maths is right, works out at over $10 a gallon.
The funniest thing is, I keep reading lots of US journals which talk about society collapsing if prices hit $10 a gallon - well, it's already happened over here! The good news is, we're all still alive, we're just grumbling a bit more.
